Why We’re Here

Nursing school is hard. Period. Nursing school is hard. Period. We’ve been there and we get it. Part of it’s the material, part of it is the way it’s taught: listen to a lecture, read a chapter in the textbook, and take an exam. Then onto the next chapter. And the next. But how can an aspiring nurse be expected to pass nursing school and the NCLEX this way when 65% of college students are visual learners. That’s where we can help!

Our History

In 2012, at Cerritos Nursing School in Southern California, Nurse Mike Linares was called into the Dean’s office. The Dean told Mike he needed a 90% or higher on his midterm exams or he’d be forced into remediation for the entire semester. But Mike couldn’t do it. No matter the amount of studying he did, he couldn’t retain the information.

So, he talked to some of his classmates and discovered he wasn’t the only one struggling. There had to be another way. He decided to act like the professor he needed and turn the material into something highly visual and fun. He filmed it and sent it to the other students in his class. And thus SimpleNursing was born.

2012 - YouTube Channel Starts

Mike Linares graduates from Nursing School in Southern California and starts a YouTube channel called SimpleNursing

2017 - The Business is Born

SimpleNursing becomes an official LLC and Nurse Mike builds the first SimpleNursing.com website to help nursing students worldwide pass their exams

Angela Slater has 15 years experience as a Registered Nurse, with 9 years as a Nurse Practitioner, 4 years as a Clinical Educator, and 2 years with Simple Nursing as a Subject Matter Expert. She has worked with various organizations, including hospitals, mental health facilities, universities, also in clinical research, medical content and copywriting, as well as private practice offices. Through her work, she has gained extensive clinical knowledge and mastered NCLEX preparation practices that are required to support future nurses in their endeavors. She is particularly passionate about advocacy for equitable treatment of obesity with GLP-1 therapy, PCOS, and mental health awareness. She earned a Master’s of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Thomas Jefferson University and is currently studying in a Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at her Alma Mater.
